Jay writes :

This buggy was originally imported by my father back in 1967 from JC Whitteney Co., Riverside CA. Built it and had it running 1968. He slalom raced it a couple of times during early seventies with a 2000 pluss CC engine.

I had a chance to use it only in 1995. But I started working w/ it November of 1998. My father gave me a brand new 1585 cc engine w/c he kept in his stockroom ( He used to be a VW engineer, mechanic & dealer ). Here are some details:

CHASIS: 1967 VW ( shortened 12 inches )
ENGINE DISPLACEMENT: 1585 CC
BIG BORE KIT: Mahle 85.5 mm
CYLINDER HEAD: Dual Port, slanted intake OEM
CARBURATOR: Solex 32 pict
DISTRIBUTOR: Bosch 009
SHIFTER: EMPI Trigger shifter
STEERING WHEEL: Luisi of Italy
GUAGES: VDO
TACH-O-METER: Auto meter
TIRES: Sumo racer HDR 353 / bridgestone
Front- 195 / 60 R15 88H
Rear- 225 / 60 R15 95 H
PAINT JOB: Buddy Galang
UPHOLSTERY: Pong
FULL TIME MECHANIC: Willy Garcia

David, I am so fortunate to have this buggy. It gives me and my family a lot of fun and excitement. Thanks to my father Engr. Dominador M. Gomez.
