Nuts-and-bolts: Picture is taken with Connectix QuickCam monochrome CCD
digital camera. Image is captured using a custom image capture routine
running on a '286 PC, which runs proprietary Ethernet MAC-layer bridging
software (FreyBridge). The raw image is transfered to a SPARC SunOS
Unix file system via UDP (over another 28.8K modem-based Ethernet bridge
'386 PC) and converted to a JPEG image. A shell script running as a
cron job on this '486 Linux-based HTTP server transfers the JPEG image
to the Linux machine. The shell script also updates the HTML you are
viewing.
